Resto Guides is an independent blog about ordering food in. Takeout and delivery are part of ordinary life for a lot of households, yet the practical questions around them rarely get straight answers. How long do leftovers really keep? Can that container go in the microwave? Which dishes survive a twenty-minute drive? What should you do when the order arrives wrong? We write clear, sourced guides that answer those questions so you can order with confidence and eat well at home.
What we cover
Ordering In covers the choices you make before you check out: reading a menu online, ordering for a group or a party, making healthier picks and choosing between phone, app and website orders. Storing & Reheating draws on food safety agencies to explain how long leftovers keep, how to reheat them safely, freezing and what to do when delivery runs late. Takeout by Cuisine looks at dishes from different kitchens and how well they travel. Pickup & Delivery covers curbside collection, contactless delivery, ghost kitchens, etiquette and putting a wrong order right.
We also run a Lifestyle section on the wider habits around ordering in, such as packaging waste and ordering for one, and a Leisure & Games section on food for watch parties, movie nights and game days.
How we choose topics
We start with the questions people actually ask when they order food. Each article answers its main question near the top, then explains the background and the practical steps, often with a checklist or comparison table you can use straight away.
How we check facts
Every fact, rule or figure in our articles comes from a source we have read, such as food safety agencies, public health bodies, university extension services and established reference publications. We link to those sources so you can check them yourself, because guidance is updated and the official page is always the final word. If we cannot verify something, we leave it out.
We do not invent statistics, quotes, experts or reviews, and we do not name, rate or recommend individual restaurants, delivery services or meal-kit companies. Food safety articles are general information; if you are unwell or have a medical condition that affects what you can eat, speak to a clinician. We also leave out prices, which change too quickly to be useful.
The restaurant directory
Resto Guides began as a directory of restaurant pages, and you can still browse it from the Restaurants link in our menu.
Contributed articles
